What is Eugene City Council Ward 5?
The Eugene City Council has eight members, each elected from a geographic ward, plus the mayor. Ward 5 covers north and northwest Eugene, including the Bethel, Trainsong, River Road and Santa Clara areas, the Highway 99 corridor and the neighborhoods around Royal Avenue. The councilor elected in Ward 5 represents those residents on the city budget, police and fire funding, housing and land-use decisions, street and park maintenance, and the ordinances that govern day-to-day life in Eugene.
Eugene City Council seats are nonpartisan. Ward 5 councilors serve four-year terms, and the seat is on the ballot in the November 2026 general election.

Ballots mailed
Lane County Elections begins mailing ballots to every registered voter in Ward 5. Oregon votes entirely by mail.

Ballots must be in an official Lane County drop box by 8:00 p.m. on November 3, 2026, or postmarked by Election Day.
How voting works in Eugene
- Every registered voter gets a ballot in the mail. There is no polling place to visit and no need to request an absentee ballot.
- Return it by mail or in a drop box. Postage is prepaid on Oregon ballots. Official Lane County drop boxes are placed across Eugene, including at libraries and public buildings; the county publishes the current list each election.
- Sign the return envelope. An unsigned ballot cannot be counted until the signature is fixed, and county elections staff will contact you if there is a problem.
- Check your registration and ballot status any time at Oregon MyVote, the Secretary of State's official voter portal.
- Nonpartisan ballot. City Council races appear on every Ward 5 voter's ballot regardless of party registration.
Who is on the ballot in Ward 5
Mike Clark is a candidate for the Eugene City Council in Ward 5 in 2026. He has served north Eugene on the council, led the effort to convert the former EWEB building into Eugene's city hall, and is running on housing affordability, funding police and fire, growing local jobs, protecting core city services and spending taxpayer dollars carefully.
