Focused on what matters for Eugene

Making Eugene more affordable. Keeping our neighborhoods safe. Protecting core services. Growing good jobs.

Mike Clark has spent years asking the hard questions at City Hall, even when he is the only one doing it. Eugene needs leaders willing to focus on the basic things local government is responsible for and deliver results for the people who live here.

Affordability. Safety. Accountability.

Mike Clark, candidate for Eugene City Council in Ward 5

Eugene needs to get back to the basics

Families are paying more for housing, groceries, utilities and everyday life. Businesses are struggling with rising costs. Residents want safe neighborhoods and reliable city services. Mike believes City Hall needs to concentrate on the things city government can actually do something about.

01

Making Housing More Affordable

Remove unnecessary barriers to construction so Eugene can add substantially more housing of all types.

02

Support Police, Fire and Safe Neighborhoods

Public safety is a core responsibility of local government and should be funded and treated that way.

03

Grow Jobs and Our Local Economy

More opportunity and a stronger tax base — not continually higher taxes on the people already here.

04

Protect Core City Services

Streets, infrastructure, parks and the basic responsibilities residents depend on every day.

05

Spend Taxpayer Dollars Carefully

Ask what something costs, whether it will work, and whether it makes Eugene more or less affordable.

Fiscal Responsibility

Asking the hard questions saves taxpayers money

Mike spent years pushing Eugene to move City Hall into the former EWEB headquarters rather than pursuing a much more expensive alternative. That decision saved Eugene taxpayers more than $30 million.

That is what fiscal responsibility looks like: focusing on what works, questioning expensive assumptions and remembering whose money City Hall is spending.

The experience to know how City Hall works — and the independence to challenge it

Mike has represented Ward 5 with a simple philosophy: his job is to represent the people who live here, not simply go along with City Hall. That has sometimes made Mike the lone voice on the Council asking what something will cost, whether it will actually work, and whether it makes Eugene more or less affordable.

A Eugene City Council candidate for Ward 5 neighborhoods

Mike Clark Ward 5 covers north Eugene, Oregon — North Gilham, Cal Young, Goodpasture Island and the northeast parts of Santa Clara. These are working neighborhoods, and they deserve a councilor who shows up for them at City Hall.

As a Eugene City Council candidate, Mike is running on the issues Ward 5 families raise at the door: the cost of housing in Eugene, police and fire response times, jobs that pay a living wage, and city services like street repair, parks and homelessness response that people pay for every year.
