Representing the people who live here
Mike Clark is a Eugene City Council candidate in Ward 5, the northwest Eugene, Oregon neighborhoods of Bethel, Trainsong, River Road and Santa Clara.
Mike Clark has represented Ward 5 with a simple philosophy: his job is to represent the people who live here, not simply go along with City Hall. That has sometimes made Mike the lone voice on the Council asking what something will cost, whether it will actually work, and whether it makes Eugene more or less affordable.
Mike is a longtime Eugene resident, mortgage loan specialist and community leader. His experience in housing, business, public safety and city government gives him a practical understanding of the challenges facing Ward 5 families, workers and employers.
After coming to Eugene in 1983 to attend the University of Oregon, Mike made Eugene his home. He got married here, grew a small business here, and raised a family here. He volunteered with local service clubs and served on the boards of several local non-profit organizations. After two years on the city budget committee, Mike was elected to represent the people of Ward 5 and has served proudly ever since.
He believes Eugene is at its best when City Hall stays focused on the core responsibilities of local government, spends taxpayer dollars carefully and works to make this a city where people can afford to live, work and raise a family.

In their words

…we like his well-informed, common sense approach to the city's problems.

Clark has offered the most realistic assessment of the budget challenges facing the city, and appears most willing to make hard decisions.

I support Mike Clark for City Council because he brings a practical, common-sense approach to moving Eugene forward — and a clear focus on getting real results with the resources we have.

Mike's years long fight to make the old EWEB building the new city hall probably saved Eugene taxpayers more than 30 million dollars.

Mike Clark continues to stand out as a leader who listens not only to his constituents but to all members of our community. I have personally worked with him for more than 25 years and I count on his decision-making to reflect his strong values of service. He is diligent in his work and his attention to detail delivers powerful results effectively using available resources to deliver positive outcomes.

When the public depends on first responders, we depend on Mike.

We endorse Mike because we count on his leadership to help make housing more available and affordable.

Mike fights for our neighborhood association and the people of north Eugene. He's fought for our parks, our roads, public safety and our quality of life like no other councilor. He's truly our champion.

We believe Mike is the strongest candidate to improve safety, grow opportunity, and strengthen our local economy so life in our community becomes more affordable for everyone.
